Christmas Front Porch
If y’all haven’t figured it out by now…I love front porches! So any chance I get to decorate one or show y’all what I have done to mine, I take it. Also, I LOVE decorating for holidays/seasons so my front porch decor is always changing. I wanted to share my Christmas Front Porch and show how easy it can be to add in some Christmas touches. There will also be some details on outdoor pillows I got for $5!! You can’t beat that deal!
Pillows, Pillows & More Pillows
My absolute favorite (& easiest) way to change up front porch decor is pillows! As y’all know I got some amazing black and white buffalo plaid pillow covers for my fall front porch and said I would be using them again for Christmas. I recommend doing this very thing for your own porch decor. Outdoor decorations and furniture can be expensive and changing it up constantly can break the bank. If you find a few pieces that match multiple seasons you are saving yourself time and money. I used those buffalo plaid pillows to decide my base neutral color, black. I have kept this base neutral through all my seasons. Black stands out great next to the brick color of my house and is easy to match with most colors.
My Christmas front porch color scheme is red, black and gold (with some very small touches of green). Because I used black for my base neutral I already had my buffalo plaid pillows, rocking chairs, and rugs ready to add in pops of my Christmas colors. The only pillows I purchased this year were my $5 outdoor pillows from Walmart! I was so excited that I could use pillows I already had on my porch AND that I found such a great deal on the cutest outdoor pillows.
You can never have too many pillows so I layered them on my bench and both rocking chairs. They were a simple way to add in my pops of color. Making my porch look like a cozy extension of my home inside. I have said it before but your porch is sort of the “first impression” of your home. You want it be welcoming and warm for your guests. In my opinion pillows are the BEST way to do just that.
Small Decor Accents
To add in those pops of Christmas colors I like to use smaller decor accents that make a big impact. I choose accent pieces that can be used again in another season or holiday’s decorations. This year I found another amazing deal. I LOVE shopping at Bargain Hunt stores because they are basically a Target discount store. While shopping there, I found 2 Hearth and Hand lanterns that were the perfect addition to my front porch and they were black! Of course they were perfect because Joanna Gaines created them but I was so surprised at the price. Just $10 each, so I couldn’t resist buying 2!
I tagged a similar lantern from Hearth and Hand here. Unfortunately my black ones are no longer available through Target, although I would check your local Bargain Hunt!!
I have shared below several photos of my smaller decor accents below. You can see how I used simple additions to add in my pops of Christmas colors. Keep in mind I had all these accent pieces in my attic already. Every year I hit up the 90% off day after Christmas sales (if you don’t, you should!) to find all my unique Christmas decor. I like to change up the interior decor every year and use my “left overs” to decorate my porch!
I hope y’all enjoyed my Christmas Front Porch and got some inspiration for your own! If you’re hosting the holidays this year make sure your front porch is welcoming in your guests. Use some of my tips and use my hashtag #theolivebranchky if you do! God bless you and your family these final days of 2018!
